An Okanagan man who brutally beat his aged mom and left her for lifeless in 2019 has been denied his request to be launched from jail.

In 2021, Kevin Lee Barrett, now 64, was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in jail after pleading responsible to aggravated assault in a near-fatal assault.

A report from the Parole Board of Canada launched earlier this month described Barrett as somebody who’s “more likely to commit a criminal offense leading to loss of life or critical hurt to a different” if he’s launched from jail earlier than that sentence is served. . . .
