
Pope Francis has appointed a brand new auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Kisangani (Tshopo). That is Father Léonard Ndjadi Ndjate, provincial superior of the Comboni missionaries within the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Kisangani, Mgr Marcel Utembi Tapa, introduced it on Saturday Might 13 to the pastoral brokers.
Bishop Leonard Ndjadi Ndjate was born on January 2, 1976 in Yanonge, a locality positioned 55 km from Kisangani, downstream from the Congo River. He did his main and secondary research in Kisangani. He entered the Congregation of Comboni Missionaries in 1995.
After the novitiate in Kimwenza (Kinshasa), he studied philosophy on the philosophate Edith Stein in Kisangani then theology on the Eugène de Mazenod Institute in Kinshasa, the place he obtained a license in non secular theology. He continued his research in theology on the Gregorian College in Rome from 2013 to 2015 and specialised in vocational formation.
The longer term auxiliary bishop was ordained a priest on August 13, 2006 in Kisangani, a 12 months after his solemn career. He has held a number of positions, notably as parish priest of Notre Dame de Fatima and provincial councilor of the Comboni Province in Bangui, CAR.
